C.A.R. (Creates A Race) or (Computer Automated Race) units are found throughout the Universe. As explained by Tim Lapse, who is next to the original C.A.R. in Cyberplexus, a C.A.R. scans the environment, and creates a virtual version, altered for racing. Interacting with one transports you inside the virtual version, where you can race with other players or against a C.A.R.-controlled character, each unit has a special device called a Maelstrom D.I.E. (Diverts Into Emulation), which causes any maelstrom that tries to infect it to go inside the race course, where it becomes a hazard. C.A.R.s can also be used to check scores and global rank.
