  • I think I've reached a skill level in C# that works, now...I am ready. I can do Blender, as well. Just show me what shaders you guys use, then I'll gladly join you guys. Also, I am still in the process of mastering C#, so a few of my programs may take some time to make. I hope you understand.

    • Blender shaders have nothing to do with Unity's shaders though.

    • Hi AmazingFusionNinja,

I'm sorry it has taken a while to get back with you. The Nexus Adventures team is using Slack as our general means of team communication. We're also using GitLab for sharing of code. These will require an email address to create accounts for (I know that was an issue a while back). There have been a lot of changes and updates going on within the team (we've decided to move away from Unity for example), so please pardon the lack of communication. If you'd like to join up, I can contact our technical lead about taking a look at some of your work.

      Thanks for sticking with us!

Moved away from Unity? Let me guess, Unreal Engine 4? Utilize blueprint visual coding rather than C++, I assume? Lower needs for coding requirements.

      Hey Allen!

We're still weighing our options, but no matter which engine we settle on we're still going to put a lot of code into it. UE4 is under consideration, and if it is the route we decide to take, we plan to go more the C++ path. Our team is fortunate to have a couple coders with C++ experience, and our latest addition to the team is actually a professional game dev. That's part of the reason we've been going through a bit of restructuring, but I can't reveal too much about what exactly our plans are at this point.

      Thanks,

    • Moving away from Unity? That sounds pretty revolutionary to me. Are the maps (like Imagination Gardens) and the models transferable to the new engine?

All of the non Unity-specific assets will be transferable. We are currently combing through our current asset pool to determine what items are still relevant to the project. There are quite a few things both on the wiki and in the current asset pool that, while great ideas, won't work well in the project moving forward. We're also looking to create new content and develop concepts that will require more team members. If you haven't taken a look at the news on the home page already, check it out!

      Thanks,

    • Sorry, but I am clearly out-of-the loop here. It's probably because college prep. I realize that I probably won't have any time, anymore. Sorry for getting everyone's hopes up.
